Experience in boat handling, life jackets and fire extinguishers form an important part of your safety at sea, however for those risks that get out of hand, our pleasure craft insurance will surely help you out.
Our Aquatica policy is simple to read with no fine print and provides for cover against All Risks of Physical loss or damage. This means that unless an event is particularly excluded, then it will be covered. Besides cover for damages to the craft, this policy also includes insurance for trailer and loss or damage to Third Parties.
- Water Sports Liability (subject to driver & onlooker on board)
- Latent defect to machinery (provided under 6 years old)
- Propellor fouling (a must for crafts exceeding 17 knots)
- Navigation outside Maltese Waters
- Racing Risk for sailing sloops
- Personal Effects (for crafts over 16 ft with a locked cabin)
- Personal Accident (for crafts over 16ft)
- Public Liability up to € 300,000 which may be increased to € 600,000 ( for vessels navigating beyond Maltese Waters

Important Points / Policy Conditions
|
- If you leave your dinghy (tender) on your craft you are to ensure that dinghly is secured and locked to the vessel
- The tender should be clearly marked "T.T. name of vessel"
- If your vessel is installed with an engine of 100HP or more you are to hold a speedboat Licence issued by the MMA
- If you opt to insure your trailer, such is to be secured and locked to your vehicle / immovable item if left unattended
- The Insured is to practice due diligence when managing the craft
- If you have an auxiliary outboard of 20HP or less this is to be secured in a locked cabin when vessel is unattended
- Vessel may be left at sea on moorings for a period agreed in advance. This period varies according to the type of craft and location of moorings

These are the main exclusions :

- Wear and tear & depreciation
- Malicious damage caused by the insured / passenger on board craft
- Latent defect to craft
- Latent defect to machinery (unless otherwise agreed)
- Theft must be subject to forcible entry
- Ropes, fenders, fishing gear
- Sails split by the wind
- Any loss whilst craft is being used for illegal purposes
- The policy excess
The Insured vessel may be left on moorings all year round (except for small crafts) within any of the following safe ports.
- Grand Harbour
- Marsamxette Harbour (excluding ferries)
- Spinola
- St. George B'Bugia behind breakwater
- Pretty Bay wied il-Buni side & behind waterpolo pitch
- M'Xlokk village inlet
- Mgarr
- Portomaso

Navigation restrictions during winter months :
|
- Navigation is not permitted if wind forecast exceeds force 4 and force 6 for sailing boats
- No Navigation by night is allowed
- Craft is to return to safe port or laid up after use
- Craft is not to exceed Maltese Territorial Waters
- Navigation beyond Maltese Waters
- When approved by us and an additional premium paid, the craft will be allowed to navigate beyond Maltese Waters. Single engine vessels must be accompanied by another craft capable of towing same to port in case of difficulty. An operational VHF must be on board together with life saving facilities. Please ensure you have a life ring & first aid kit on board
